The West Indies team is set to play India four Test matches and the visitors are touring with a uniquely balanced squad with strong batting and a superb bowling attack with spinners and pace.
However, the regional team is going to be without Jerome Taylor and Kemar Roach because they were not selected for this series against India.
Marlon Samuels is the most experienced in the West Indies squad with 64 Tests with an average below 35 followed by Darren Bravo who has about the best average of 41:50 runs after 42 Test matches.
HOLDER, GABRIEL, BRATHWAITE POSE NO THREAT TO INDIA
Shannon Gabriel is very quick but not very accurate as a fast bowler to pose a serious threat to the Indian batsmen.
Jason Holder and the inexperienced Carlos Brathwaite are now getting into the Test cricket rhythm. With such pace as Gabriel carries, it would have been appropriate to have a bowler to back him up from the other end.
Leg spinner Devendra Bishoo is having another opportunity. He is effective in short spells but beyond that he throws down long ups and bowls too short.
Bishoo can be a wicket taker if used correctly.
He is very effective when he keeps the ball up to the batsmen and develops a quick straight one.
Captain Jason Holder must avoid using Bishoo for long spells. He can be a wicket taker if used correctly.
JASON MOHAMMED SHOULD BE IN TESTS
Trinidad and Tobago batsman who is in top form in the Caribbean Premier League has shown skills as a batsman that should be used in Test cricket. He bats intelligently and has a big appetite to stay at the wicket for long periods.
Many West Indies batsmen lack the ability to remain at the wicket for a long time. Mohammed is showing some top class batting, superb timing and stroke play. West Indies will do very well with him in the middle order.
