Volunteers needed to beautify Southeast Queens

It takes a village to beautify the neighborhood. New volunteers joined Assemblyman William Scarborough last Saturday to help clean the center islands on Merrick Blvd. from Springfield Blvd. to Linden Blvd. Local Merrick Blvd. business owner Marcel Robins of State Farm Insurance Agency, Daniel Ennis of Quik Lube as well as the NAACP Youth Group and volunteers from the Youth Fitness Center joined Scarborough and Parks Dept. volunteers to remove debris and weeds in preparation for the planting of trees, shrubs and plants by the NYC Parks Dept. More volunteers are needed for Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Meet at 129-32A Merrick Blvd. at 10:00 a.m. on Oct. 6.
