The Morrisania Doll Society will present The Harlem Holiday Doll Show and Sale, on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Harlem Landmark Galleries, 467 West 144th St. from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.
The Harlem Holiday Doll Show and Sale will showcase a variety of vintage, mass produced and fine art black dolls.
The event will also feature noted doll artists Joyce Stroman, Tanya Montq, Queen Healer, Dana Stanley and other doll makers, who will present their exquisite handcrafted dolls and doll accessories. Dolls will be available for purchase in every price range.
The Morrisania Doll Society has hosted a yearly doll show since March 2000. “We are inviting everyone to come and see these fine works of art. Collecting black dolls has made me more aware of the outstanding level of creativity many women and men in our community possess. We’re also excited to have this holiday event once again in the gracious atmosphere of the Harlem Landmark Galleries. The proprietor, Kim Hamilton, is a great fan of the doll artists,” says Ellen Ferebee, founder, Morrisania Doll Society.
The Morrisania Doll Society was formed in 2000 to bring together doll collectors and doll artists and to help preserve the history and culture of African-American doll making.
