Barbados retained their Regional Super-50 title by beating archrivals Trinidad and Tobago by 28 runs, in the final round of matches at Enmore, Guyana recently.
Explosive West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin performance was the decisive factor as she struck a half century and grabbed six wickets to earn the Player-of-the-Match award.
Both teams entered the finals on the backs of four straight wins, but it was Barbados which proved superior, chalking 242 for 7 off their 50 overs and then restricting Trinidad and Tobago to 214 all out.
After Barbados was sent in to bat, the 27-year-old veteran, Dottin with more than l00 One-Day-Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals struck a fast 73 off 43 balls, to lead three other players making half centuries as Kycia Knight top-scored with 77 while her twin sister, Kyshona Knight, chipped in with 56.
When both fell in the space of 25 balls, Dotting arrived at the crease and blasted three fours and half a dozen sixes in a frantic 88-run, fifth wicket partnership with Charlene Taitt (15).
Trinidad and Tobago off-spinner Karishma Ramharack was the best bowler with four for 37.
In reply, Felicia Walters (27) and Rachael Vincent (10) provided a 50-run opening stand for Trinidad and Tobago, but they came in 97 deliveries and put immense pressure on the innings.
However, Dotting produced a superb bowling attack with her medium pace to claim 6 for 38, through the middle and lower order as Trinidad and Tobago crashed from 182 for 4 in the 42nd over, losing their last six wickets for just 30 runs.
