The deluge began with a goal in the third minute, and the ball did not stop hitting the back of Notre Dame’s net until Paradise registered a 9-0 defeat in a Sunday night fixture of the Barbados Football Association’s Premier League.

It was the largest goal margin defeat of the season and, in a long time, registered in the island’s top-level football and national striker Armando Lashley played a major role by netting four of the nine goals in the match that kicked off at the Wildey Astro Turf.

Striker Dario Harewood put in two and national youth player, Sherian Hoyte, also accounted for two goals. Then national midfielder, Ackeel Apple, chipped in with one goal in the rout.

This encounter was in a Zone Two match-up in the two-zone 2018-2019 Premier League, and the trouncing of Notre Dame enabled Paradise to maintain an unbeaten record after eight rounds of matches.

The Paradise boys with five wins and three draws are however not on top of the zone as their 18 points amassed so far place them behind the Empire lads who have tallied 21 points after winning seven games and losing one.

Empire is at the top of the table for the entire League of two zones.

In another of the clashes Sunday, University of the West Indies beat three-time champions Barbados Defence Force 2-0.

In spite of the loss, the army boys remain in third position in Zone Two with 14 points in this group of six teams.

In a Saturday night encounter overall League and Zone Two leaders, Empire widened their advance position when they beat Weymouth Wales 2-1.

Though the boys from Wales went under, they managed to hold on to the top Zone One position with 11 points.

Wales is followed in Zone One by UWI, which is also on 11 points but has more goals scored against the team.

In third position for Zone One is Porey Springs on nine points.
