St. Lucia Stars, Barbados Tridents out of CPL playoffs

St. Lucia Stars and Barbados Tridents are out of the playoffs in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for the third year running.

The Tridents, under Captain Jason Holder failed to win any of their homes matches, which was wrapped up recently in Bridgetown. They lost six matches in a row.

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots clinched the last playoff spot when they beat Jamaica Tallawahs in St. Kitts last week.

The victory put the Patriots on nine points, securing the last playoff spot joining reigning champions Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors and the Tallawahs in the final four.

Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) are at the top of the table with 12 points, having won six of their eight games, while Guyana Amazon Warriors remain on 10 points after being defeated by Trinbago Knight Riders on Wednesday night by 67 runs at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Jamaica Tallawahs is also on 10 points after having won five of their nine games.

The finals are expected to bowl off on Sept. 16 at the Brian Lara Stadium in South Trinidad.
