Hard-hitting West Indies opener Chris Gayle has struck form for the World Cup qualification campaign in Zimbabwe when he hammered 123 runs in the opening match against United Arab Emirates last week.

Gayle lashed seven fours and 11 massive sixes in a 91-ball innings which marked his 23rd One-Day century.

West Indies chose to bat after winning the toss and posted a massive 357 or their allotted 50 overs, with Shimron Hetmyer blasting 127 at the Old Hararians Ground.

Hetmyer faced 93 balls and struck 14 fours and four sizes to make his maiden One-Day International century. He was named Man-of-the-Match.

In reply, United Arab Emirates rallied to 297 for 6 with Rameez Shahzad scoring an unbeaten 112. Captain Jason Holder picked up five wickets for 53 with his medium pace.

The West Indies won the second qualifying match against Papua New Guinea on Wednesday night at the same venue.
