Singer Olivia K and The Parkers will be performing at her birthday bash at The Knitting Factory on Feb. 22. The Caribbean-American songstress, who is of Guyanese descent, will take to the stage to perform songs from her EP “Power.” Her fusion of music styles and her stage presence makes her a standout among a lot artists and her team says she will deliver a good show, said her publicist.
“It’s definitely going to be great time obviously — she’s one of the most universally appealing artists,” said Diana Omana. “People of all ages like her because she’s great, makes you feel good vibes, liven your mood — she makes you feel like want to dance.”
Her music is a mixture of neo-soul, rhythm and blues, jazz, and upbeat pop and reggae music, which she performs with her three-member band. She is often compared to Erykah Badu, said Omana.
The East New York-based singer celebrated her birthday on Feb. 20 and is going to host this concert, which will also feature performances from rhythm and blues singers Brinae Ali and Keren Abreu, to celebrate it.
A few songs she is set to perform are “Power” and “Melanin.”
