Manager of the West Indies team Joel “Big Bird” Garner will now perform the role of ambassador of Cricket West Indies (CWI) and will be utilized for special projects.

The ambassador role is in line with other big cricket boards around the world.

Former West Indies leg-spinner Rawle Lewis will take over the manager’s post from Garner.

Grenadian Lewis managed the team during the successful World T20 run in 2016.

Garner and bowling coach Roddy Estwick are among some of the changes the CWI is making to improve the performances of the organization.

The CWI is expected to name a new bowling coach before the team leaves for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe next month.

The Windies team will be looking to win the 10-team tournament and head into the World Cup, which will be played in England in 2019.
