First Lady of Guyana, Sandra Granger, expressed Season’s Greetings on behalf and her, and President David Granger, at her Annual Senior Citizen Christmas Party, at State House in Georgetown, on Dec. 14.
“I wish everyone a very merry, blessed, peaceful and healthy Christmas, and a Happy New Year,” she said. “As you know, my husband is unable to attend, but he echoes these sentiments,” said Mrs. Granger of President David Granger who is under doctor’s care for cancer.
Granger who has been keeping up with her hectic schedule, at times, addressing conferences, and town hall meetings in New York, also welcomed special citizens from the diaspora, as well as members from her charities Women Across Difference (WAD), and Luminous Women Group, who joined her in serving meals to more that 100 elders.
A humanitarian and selfless First Lady who has received various honors for her diligent work in the diaspora and at home, said she wanted to ensure her guests were served their meal before she sat to partake of the festive fare, and quipped that she was paying close attention to the seniors, because she didn’t want them to get “tipsy.”
She later served sweet treats, presented gift bags and invited the gathering to get into the festive spirit with music played by pannist, Ras Camo Williams.
