West Indies Women cricketers are fighting for a win in the current ICC 50-over World Cup campaign in England.

In their opening match they were defeated by eight wickets to reigning champions Australia Women last week at Taunton and a few days later they lost to India at the same venue.

The losing finalists from the last 50-overs World Cup and the reigning Twenty20 World Cup champions now face the prospect of not making the semi-finals.

In their last match on Sunday the West Indies Women were humiliated as they went down to South Africa, in what was their worst performance of the tournament.

Sent in to bat, the West Indies capitulated for 48 off 25.2 overs — their second lowest ever total in One-Day Internationals and the sixth lowest in World Cup history.

Number four batter Chedean Nation was the only one to score 26 as West Indies lost their last five wickets for l0 runs in a shocking display of poor batting.

South Africa leg-spinner Dane van Niekerk took four wickets for no runs off 3.2 overs. In reply, South Africa scored 51 for no loss off 6.2 overs to win the match. Captain Stafanie Taylor, who along with Deandra Dottin celebrated their l00 ODI career last week, said the form of the senior players needed to improve if the team is to turn around its fortunes.
