Popular Jamaica reggae singer, Fitzroy Edwards better known by his stage name Edi Fitzroy has died at the age of 62 at a hospital in Kingston, Jamaica recently.

He was best known for his work in the dancehall era from 1975.

Known for songs like, “Miss Molly Colly,” released in 1978, it reached the top ten on the charts.

Edi was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, where he was exposed to music at an early age.

In 1982 he topped the Jamaican albums chart for four weeks.

His lyrics branded him as one of Jamaica’s most renowned socially conscious singers, with themes including equality for women.

He won a Rockers Award in l984 for Most Conscious Performer for his “Princess Black” single that celebrates black women (which he wrote for his mother).
