Raised and ready to go.

The Caribbean American Center of New York (CACNY) helped raise thousands of dollars plus clothing supplies for the Caribbean hurricane relief effort. Last month a benefit concert organized by CACNY, headlined by artists Lyrikal and Kerwin DuBois, raised $14,000, said the center’s executive director.

“I am very humbled to have been a part of this very special effort and proud of CACNY’s board of directors participation in this venture,” said Jean Alexander.

All funds raised will be sent to the District 7020 Hurricane Irma Fund, the Caribbean-based recovery fund organized by the humanitarian group, Rotary International. The money will go towards distribution costs, providing residents with relief items and towards rebuilding efforts.

Boxes filled with donations such as children’s clothing, school supplies, toys, hygienic products and essential needs including soap, diapers, bedding and batteries, will also be sent to the Caribbean.

Donations can be made at: Caribbean American Center of New York [195 Cadman Plaza W. between Prospect and Middagh streets, (718) 803–1500, www.cacnyinc.org].

West Indian American Day Association [323 Rogers Ave. between Montgomery Street and Sullivan Place, (718) 467-1797, www.wiadcacarnival.org].
