No shift in West Indies rankings

Embattled West Indies remains at number eight in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Test team rankings which was recently released.

The regional team was still languishing on 69 points — the position they have occupied for the most of 2016.

They are only four points clear of minnow’s Bangladesh on ninth.

The year 2016 was another dreadful time for West Indies as the team won just one of their eight Test matches, while suffering four defeats and four draws.

They suffered a 2-0 loss in a four-Test home series against India and lost 2-1 to Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates. The other game was drawn in the third Test against Australia in Sydney — a series West Indies lost 2-0.

The West Indies team has struggled badly over the last two decades and their last success over a major Test-playing nation came when they defeated England 1-0 in a five-match series seven years ago in the Caribbean.

India heads the Test rankings with 120 points.
