West Indies Women’s team suffered a whitewash (3-0) at the hands of India Women in India recently, missing out on an automatic qualification for next year’s ICC 50-overs World Cup in England.

Set 200 for victory in the final match at the Mulapadua Cricket Stadium, the Caribbean women were dismissed for 184 at the start of the final over to concede the series 3-0.

They appeared on course to win at 166 for 4 in the 45th over but shockingly lost their last six wickets for just 18 runs to be skittled out for 184.

India left-spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad was the main bower for India with4 for 34, taking three of the six wickets at the end to tumble the Windies girls.

The defeat was the West Indies Women’s last chance to secure the two ICC Championship points required to seal a top four position in the standings and gain automatic World Cup qualification.

They lie fourth on 22 points but can be overtaken by either India Women who are fifth with 19 points with three games left to play, or by South Africa Women who are sixth on 17 points also with three games to play.

In the limited Twenty20 overs, West Indies Women crushed India 3-0 which followed the One-Day International series.
