SRI LANKA STILL STRONG

Sangakkara and Dilshan scored a partnership of 134 runs for the third wicket with some intelligent batting. Sangakkara scored 104 runs from 107 balls and Dilshan 62 runs from 60 balls. Captain Ad Matthews and LD Chandimal can turn a game around. Chandimal retired hurt on 52 off 24 balls with eight fours and one six, at this stage Sri Lanka was 281 runs for four in the 42nd over, chasing 377 to win. Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand and India seem to be the teams that might be in the quarter finals. These are the teams that have performed reasonably competitive at a high level so far in the World Cup.

India defeating South Africa shows strength on behalf of India. The advantage India carries presently is their senior players are performing well and captain in Mahendra Singh has five unique bowlers doing a splendid job. The bowlers are: Shami, Ashwin, Yadav, Sharma and Jadeja.

Note: This World Cup winner must be able to keep he opposition calm for the last 15 overs of the allotted 50. Batting depth is essential, the middle order carries the burden of stability.
