Hard -hitting batsman Jason Mohammed slammed a swashbuckling 117 runs from 132 balls with 11 fours and six sixes for Trinidad & Tobago against Guyana in the Nagico Super 50 final. Trinidad scored 200 for 8 wickets in their 50 overs.
For Guyana, fast bowler Paul Wintz picked up two wickets for 44 runs off nine overs, left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul got three wickets for 22 runs off 10 overs and spinner Royston Crandon two for 27 off 10 overs.
Sunil Narine’s six wickets for nine runs from eight overs with three maidens and Dwayne Bravo two for 29 from seven overs totally devastated the Guyanese batsmen. Trinidad and Tobago won by 135 runs.
West Indies cricket team must modify their strategies in order to win One-Day competitions. Chris Gayle and Dwayne Smith must do some bowling in this type of competition. Twenty overs must be shared between Dwayne Smith, Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and Darren Sammy.
Sheldon Cotterell, Jason Holder and Jerome Taylor will do their 10 overs each. Some sort of system must be introduced for the bowlers to have some rest.
West Indies senior opening batsman Chris Gayle has not been performing well in the limited overs competition against South Africa. He has to lift his performance in preparation for the World Cup. Gayle is a senior player on the West Indies team and he must show some maturity to the players with less experience.
