The Guyanese community was thrown in a frenzy, when Guyanese contestant Lisa Punch won the talent competition at the Miss World 2015 pageant in Sanya, China, after reaching the top 13 among more than 100 contestants from around the world.

The beauty wowed the judges with the original song “One Last Time” written in tribute to her cousin, according to published reports.

Wearing a white topless beaded gown, the songstress garnered loud applause from the audience as she sang with emotion to capture first place in the talent segment of the pageant.

The beautiful and talented Punch, whose video clip went viral on social media, such as Facebook, has put Guyana square in the history books after becoming the second beauty from Guyana in a row after Rafieya Husain, to compete in the pageant’s final round of competition.

Punch, who is no stranger to the international stage, impressed judges with an outstanding performance on the hit TV music show ‘Rising Star” is now a serious contender to bring home the 2015 title, when the 69th Annual Miss World is held on Saturday, Dec. 19, at the Beauty Crown Grand Crown in Sanya, China.

Social media lit up with congratulatory messages, calling the 23-year-old college student “a winner all the way,” “we love you Lisa make us proud,” and “bring home the title.”

“This victory means everything to me. This proves that my cousin was right, and I thank him and everyone in the audience for making my dreams come true,” said Punch as reported on her website.

“What an amazing ride with my talented pageant sisters. Thank you very much for the worldwide support with a special thanks to Paulette Cleghorn for my beautiful gown ‘AGAPE’ by Yumi Katsura Couture,” said Punch on her Facebook page.

Good luck Lisa.
