The fate of suspended West Indies coach Phil Simmons hangs in the balance as no date has been set for the disciplinary hearing against him.

Simmons was due to face a four-member panel last week, but his lawyers objected on the grounds that the former West Indies cricketer was not given adequate notice.

The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has agreed to the request for the hearing to be deferred.

Simmons was suspended for alleging internal influences in team selection for the tour of Sri Lanka, which started this week.

Former West Indies fast bowler and current Test selector Elden Baptiste was appointed interim coach for the first Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle.

Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were not selected for the ODI team despite requests from Simmons and Captain Jason Holder, along with the support of the chairman of selectors Clive Lloyd.

Simmons has since apologized for his outburst describing it as a “moment of madness.”
