This weekend, beginning Oct. 17 a kick-off concert at Madison Square Garden headlined by r&b singer Chaka Khan, is expected to attract women of color for the 15th annual Circle of Sisters exposition.
Avant and Tamar Braxton are also billed to perform.
COS is the largest expo for women of color and will focus on topical discussions varying from #Blacklivesmatter, police brutality in the Black community, the prison industrial complex, mass incarceration of Blacks in America, health, unemployment and other issues.
Panel discussions convene on Oct. 18 from 10 am to 6 pm at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
The Cooking Pavilion will spotlight rhythm and blues singer Bobby Brown in the kitchen.
For the clueless, Brown is no stranger to that room. His Bobby Brown Barbecue Sauce has been a favorite savored from his BB Foods.
The former New Edition singer, Grammy winner, husband of the late pop star Whitney Houston and father of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown is also slated to talk with WBLS radio personality Earthquake during a one-on-one session.
COS annually hosts a variety of panel discussions, seminars, inspirational services, r&b and gospel concerts as well as a fashion show .
In addition, more than 200 vendors and small businesses annually sell unique items and services throughout the weekend.
