This weekend, beginning Oct. 17 a kick-off concert at Madison Square Garden headlined by r&b singer Chaka Khan, is expected to attract women of color for the 15th annual Circle of Sisters exposition.

Avant and Tamar Braxton are also billed to perform.

COS is the largest expo for women of color and will focus on topical discussions varying from #Blacklivesmatter, police brutality in the Black community, the prison industrial complex, mass incarceration of Blacks in America, health, unemployment and other issues.

Panel discussions convene on Oct. 18 from 10 am to 6 pm at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

The Cooking Pavilion will spotlight rhythm and blues singer Bobby Brown in the kitchen.

For the clueless, Brown is no stranger to that room. His Bobby Brown Barbecue Sauce has been a favorite savored from his BB Foods.

The former New Edition singer, Grammy winner, husband of the late pop star Whitney Houston and father of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown is also slated to talk with WBLS radio personality Earthquake during a one-on-one session.

COS annually hosts a variety of panel discussions, seminars, inspirational services, r&b and gospel concerts as well as a fashion show .

In addition, more than 200 vendors and small businesses annually sell unique items and services throughout the weekend.

“The expo is accented by an avalanche of captivating elements such as fabulous shopping and food tasting with some of today’s top chefs at the food pavilion and youth activities including lessons in the arts and dance at the children’s pavilion.”

Produced and hosted by radio stations WBLS-FM, HOT 97, WLIB – AM in association with owners Emmis Communications, each year, patron s are able to attend informative and empowering panel discussions led by authors, field experts, political figures and some of the biggest names in entertainment.

Intended to present a broad-based, issue and entertainment-oriented presentation under one roof, the COS is perhaps, the most alluring exposition that aims directly at the needs of women of color.

For the very first time, patrons can take the subway directly to the venue by using the number seven train. The newly-opened station will make that long walk from the A-Train at 34th St. a thing of the past.

Informed sources also tell me that for a limited time, ticket prices have been slashed a whopping 50 percent to provide an affordable opportunity to dialogue with professionals and insiders in virtually every field.

In order to capitalize on the bargain, potential patrons can use code 50COS.

Ladies!

Have a happy gathering.

By the way, like the MMM everyone is invited to attend the gender-friendly assembly.
