Laparkan Trading Limited – Global Freight & Logistics Solutions is partnering with Caribbean-American youth to award three financial scholarships in the amount of $1500.00 each to inspire higher learning and community service.

Students of Caribbean American heritage have until Sept. 15, to submit their application. A student must be a high school graduate, or hold a GED certificate, and be admitted to an institution of higher learning with a GPA 3.3 and above average, and SAT score of at least 1500.

In launching the program at a recent press conference at Laparkan’s head office in Richmond Hill, Queens, Vice President of Northeastern Region Gavin Khan, expressed his desire to reintroduce the former scholarship program that was established in collaboration with then Congresswoman Una Clarke, and awarded 36 scholarships over its 10-year duration.

Khan noted that Caribbean nationals migrated to the United States to give their children the opportunity to advance through education, and as such, found it fitting to establish the “Laparkan Caribbean American Scholarship” to give students a chance at higher learning.

The program is open to students in the New York Tri-State area, who must submit an application with proof of acceptance to an institution of higher learning, a 500-word typewritten, (double-space using a 12pt font) essay identifying an existing problem/issue within the Caribbean community, or with Caribbean youth that needs to be address.
