Two young designers of Caribbean Heritage will showcase their collections alongside veterans’ at the ongoing Second Annual Caribbean Catwalk fashion show, which closes the month with a bang on Friday, June 28 at the Hotel Pennsylvania in Manhattan.

Eleven-year-old Tyyan Williams, of Trinidadian heritage — the youngest designer on the bill, will be flaunting her creations, along with 18-year-old Barbadian, Ariel Clarke, who will debut her Leira By Ariel collection.

Williams and Clarke will be in the mix with veteran designers, Francis Hendy, Contagious, Jewel Shannon Designs, Soft Lines, Khalils Hatitude, Gadol Designs, Chila For Fun, House of DMarsh, Todd Anthony Collection, Frisky Fashion, Thomas Lavone Designs, Caribbean H2O, Esroy, Cleopatra Designs, Berchell, Ejor Designs, Cole Facts, Leira By Ariel and John Ashford Shoes.

Tyyan launched her Pinky Sez Fashion Collection at age eight with the help of her talented family of actors and entrepreneurs, The collection could be seen on runways across the country.

“I love fashion and I came up with ideas for outfits I wanted to model,” said Tyyan.. “My designs are for girls promoting fun and positive clothes for the fashionable forward kid,”

Prior to designing, young Tyyan modeled and acted. She has appeared in episodes of NBC’s Law and Order, CBS’ Gifted Man, and several music videos, including PS Dolls’ “Ready” and has co-hosted the PS Party Starters Dance Show aired on the WMBN network. Tyyan also sings professionally with her recording group, The PS Dolls, an extension of her fashion line.

Tyyan loves working with bold colors, satin, polka dots, stripes and big bows. She dreams of having her designs showcased some day on fashion runways around the world.

“I aspire to be like Oprah, Beyoncé and Kimora Lee, who have combined their talents in film, fashion, and civic and business (enterprises) to represent what I would like to be,” said Tyyan.

This event will be nothing short of spectacular, with the Virgin Islands’ JamBoree Mas Band — fresh from their 2013 Carnival celebrations, on hand to entertain the crowd with a cultural costume display.

“Caribbean Soca Queen” Alison Hinds will also be on stage singing her many hits and demonstrating her gyrating skills. Trinidadian Caprice Connors and Spindarella will co-host the show, and Barbadian comedian Sinck — whose work includes BET’s Comic View and Caroline’s and the Laff Factory, will also be on hand to entertain the audience with his unique brand of comedy.
