Newly elected West Indies Cricket Board President Dave Cameron recently visited Guyana and met with members of the Guyana cricket board and other officials. Cameron clearly indicated that the Guyana Cricket Board has his support. Hopefully, the Guyana government through its Ministry of Sports will get the message that this long stalemate had ended and the Guyana Cricket Board is the authority on cricket in Guyana.
Denesh Ramdin Leads From the Front with a Ton
Trinidad and Tobago Captain Denesh Ramdin pulled his team out of trouble and found a semi-final spot in the Super 50 Regional Competition. Ramdin slammed a swashbuckling 134 from 135 balls with 12 fours and four sixes.
Ramdin and Jason Mohammed put on a partnership of 170 runs with the latter scoring 63 from 83 balls. Trinidad and Tobago ended at 264 for 8 after their 50 overs.
Barbados Bowled out for 223 off 49 overs
Some hostile fast bowling from Trinidad and Tobago’s fast bowler Marlon Richards shook up Barbados from line batting. Richards bowled opener Kraigg Brathwaite, Barbados Captain Kirk Edwards and Rashidi Boucher. These batsmen scored 6, 10 and 21 respectively.
Some steady batting from the left-handed Jonathan Carter who scored 61 and wicket keeper Shane Dowrich who scored 28 runs were the only batsmen to give any resistance. Barbados was 147 for 4 and their last six wickets fell for 76 runs. Trinidad and Tobago bowlers kept the pressure on their opponents. Shannon Gabriel 2 for 43, Ray Ademrit 2 for 44, spinner Yannick Cariah 2 for 37 and pacer Marlon Richards 3 for 23.
Final Four for Super 50
Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Windward Islands and Combined Campuses and Colleges are the four teams that would participate in the semi-final. These games will be played under the lights at Kensington Oval in Barbados. Trinidad and Tobago faces Combined Campuses and Colleges on April 18. Jamaica meets the Windward Islands on April 19. The final will be on Sunday, April 21.
