When the ICC World Cup Twenty20 bowls off Sept. 18 it should be a showdown where the top batsmen of the world should dominate because of the conditions and the wickets. Most teams are going to put their best efforts to score the greatest possible runs. Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka are aware of the conditions in Sri Lanka and will do everything possible to exploit the conditions and take control of those 20 overs. Sri Lanka has a swashbuckling top order batting and if they can get off to a good start it would be difficult for any team to get back into their rhythm. Gaya Suriya and Dilshan along with their allrounders and the advantage of playing at home should be a boost for Sri Lanka. There are expected to be large crowds turning out to see the home team perform well in a desperate effort to win.

Wickets may Assist Spinners

Spinners may get some help from the Sri Lankan wickets. However, with only four overs for each bowler how much effect can that have unless a team has a few valuable spinners that can do the job to stop the hefty scoring by batsmen? India has Ojha and Ashwin, the West Indies have Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine, England has Swann, Pakistan and Bangladesh have many that can cause damage.

Darren Sammy Must Work Closely With Team

For the West Indies to win the Twenty20 ICC World Cup starting this month in Sri Lanka, there is a need for many consultations with players for their opinions. The players working as a team can achieve their one simple goal of wining the World Twenty20 trophy. Dwayne Bravo is the vice captain of the West Indies cricket team for these Twenty20 matches and Captain Darren Sammy ought to communicate more with his Vice Captain Bravo. Bravo has played much more cricket in the sub continent and his experience will be of value to the team. Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard are power hitters and they carry a wide range of experience in this type of cricket; their contributions and input should be relied on. For the West Indies to take home the trophy, there must be a unified effort with each player contributing significantly to a common task. Ottis Gibson, as head coach, carries a heavy burden of responsibility in drawing the plan to win this event. This would shape the West Indies cricket team in the direction to overtake every team in international cricket. After defeating New Zealand in three seperate series, the confidence level of the players is very high.

Windies Chances are Best Ever

The 14 players named to travel to Sri Lanka for the World Twenty20 put the West Indies in a good position to win the cup. The availability of the best Twenty20 players for the West Indies gives the advantage for good quality cricket. This is one of the strongest Twenty20 squads the West Indies has ever selected. These players must perform well and make the region proud. Hopefully, head coach Ottis Gibson has his game plans properly structured only waiting for the players to execute and win the trophy in style.
