New Year’s Eve with the Matadors

New Year’s Eve with the Matadors

Lambert and the Matadors is, hands down, the preferred choice of orchestral sound wherever in the Caribbean-American community there’s need to add classy entertainment to a social occasion. The New Year’s Eve Ball at Brooklyn’s Tropical Paradise Ballroom is undoubtedly a perfect fit for this outstanding group of musicians, and this year’s gala event to ring in the New Year will be no exception.

“New Year’s Eve is the ultimate celebratory night in the calendar year for lots of people,” said Dave Gayle, owner-operator of Tropical Paradise Ballroom. “Once we decided to do a ball and go all out to make it a highlight event, it was only natural to have the evening include Lambert and the Matadors, which has been the premier Caribbean band for so many years.”

There’s no denying that the band has demonstrated an amazing staying power. Earlier this year they formally celebrated 25 years as a unit at a special event organized by Tropical Paradise Ballroom to mark the occasion. Leader Hoplin Lambert was the recipient of several awards on behalf of his aggregation, all of the citations recognizing the spirit of continuity and togetherness the band has displayed in evolving to a genuine Caribbean community institution.

For New Year’s Eve 2012 ball attendees will be treated to the professionalism and stylish delivery that are hallmarks of every Matadors performance. Those qualities, plus a thoughtfully crafted repertoire that has across-the-board appeal for the mostly Caribbean audiences, have been key to the band’s longevity.

But, particularly for a banner occasion like the New Year’s Eve Ball, there’s the all-important advantage of folks enjoying the musical fare in a setting that is second to none. Tropical Paradise Ballroom, already renowned for its elegance and ambience, steps it up a notch for New Year’s Eve. The hall is all a-glitter with a tasteful decorative layout and an abundance of party hats and favors, transforming the space into the kind of festive environment that’s guaranteed to create a memorable experience for all celebrants. Complimentary champagne is served to toast the New Year at midnight. The buffet dinner that is included in the ticket price will feature an array of culinary specialties for which Tropical Paradise is famous. Earlier, a variety of hors d’oeuvres will be served. Complementing Lambert & the Matadors on the music menu will be the deejay sounds of Madman Maddy. Doors open for the New Year’s Eve Ball at 10:00 p.m. Tropical Paradise Ballroom is at 1367 Utica Ave. (between Foster & Farragut).

Tropical Paradise will also again this year present its “give back” Christmas Party Saturday evening, Dec. 22, which will offer complimentary buffet dinner and free admission before midnight. Doors open at 9:00 p.m. Music will be provided by DJ’s Madman Maddy and Cool Connection.
