The first Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies surely was a slow scoring one with the West Indies winning the toss at the Providence Stadium in Guyana and batted first scoring 226 runs with Lendl Simmons top scoring with 49.

In the West Indies second innings they scored 152 runs with Pakistani spinner Saeed Ajmal picking up 6 wickets for 42 runs in the West Indies second innings. Pakistan in their first innings scored 160 runs and in the second 178 with their captain Misbah-ul -Haq scoring 52. Misbah-ul-Haq was the only batsman to score a half century in the match

In the second innings for the West Indies, Ravi Rampaul picked up 4 for 48 from 21 overs, Darren Sammy the West Indies captain picked up 5 for 29 from 17 overs and fast bowler Kemar Roach 1 for 30. For Pakistan’s second innings, captain Misbah-ul-Haq scored 52 runs, Umar Akma l47 and Asad Shafiq 42. The last time the West Indies won a Test match was in 2009 February at Sabina Park in Jamaica against England when the West Indies won by an innings and 23 runs.

The West Indies defeated Pakistan by 40 runs in the first test match and West Indies captain Darren Sammy was named Man of the Match. Guyana’s Devendra Bishoo on his debut picked up 4 wickets for 68 runs in the first innings and he scored 24 not out in the West Indies second innings of 152 all out.

On the first day of the first Digicel Test between the West Indies and Pakistan at the Providence Stadium in Guyana the West Indies won the toss and batted first.

Bishoo made his test debut for the West Indies and wicket keeper batsman Mohammad Salman for Pakistan.

Pakistan earned an early breakthrough when Devon Smith was bowled by Mohammad Hafeez for 13 in the sixth over, the score was then 15. A partnership between opener Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo of 56 runs eased the pressure on the West Indies. Bravo was trapped leg before for 25, at 81 for 2 Simmons was hit on the knee by a delivery and had to retire hurt. Shivnarine Chanderpaul joined Sarwan and they gathered 46 runs partnership before Sarwan was caught behind for 23.

Brendan Nash joined Chanderpaul and Nash was trapped leg before early for five, captain Sammy went early after hitting a huge six and wicket keeper batsman Carlton Baugh Jr. fell early too.

W.I. Bowled Out

For 226 Runs

The West Indies team was bowled out for 226 runs with Kemar Roach scoring 24 before he was leg before, Bishoo on his debut test match scored 15 not out.Simmons top scored for the West Indies with 49 runs.

Pakistani spinners bowled very well and the West Indies batsmen had no opportunity of settling in at the wicket. For Pakistan, their key bowler was Saeed Ajmal who picked up 5 wickets for 69 runs from 33 overs with 14 maidens, Abdur Rehman 2 for 51 from 29 overs with 11 maidens, Mohammed Hafeez 2 for 22 from 13 overs with 5 maidens and Wahab Riaz 1 for 32 from 10 overs with 1 maiden.
