Guyanese women of courage and vision will be celebrated at a lavish soiree on Mother’s Day – Sunday, May 8, at 5:00 p.m., to kick-start the Guyana Cultural Association’s 10th Anniversary of events scheduled to run from June to September, in Brooklyn,

The Dinner Theatre, Easter Hat Show, and Cultural Presentation, scheduled to take place at St. Stephens Church Auditorium, 2806 NewKirk Avenue, Brooklyn, will bring into focus the work, energy and spirit of these women who according to Cultural Director Claire A. Goring, refuse to conform to the role set forth by men, family or society.

Goring praised these women for being the backbone of their families. “They paved the way for our future through their contributions to their families and the Guyanese society,” she added.

Set to be honored, are Patricia Jordon-Langford, Norma Clarke, Lorna Welshman-Neblett, Shanie Persaud, Rosalind October, Joyce Chase, Pamela McKenzie, Rev. Dr. Evelyn John, Pauline Bishop, and Mildred Forde.

The not-for profit GCA/Folk festival, will also hold a silent auction, and hand out door prizes to patrons.

A raffle drawing will also give out exciting prizes including four-day, three-night stays at the Princess Hotel Guyana, the Bay Gardens Hotel in St. Lucia and the Windham Sugar Bay Hotel, St. Thomas, as well as host of other gifts.
