When Zimbabwe batted, they were bowled out for 100 runs with Jeewan Mendis picking up three wickets and Agantha Mendis 6 wickets for 8 runs.

Agantha Mendis Creates Record

Agantha Mendis created a Twenty20 record with 6 wickets for 8 runs. Sri Lanka’s bold start has signalled how important each team must give 100 percent and that there is no room for weakness. Jeewan Mendis picked up 3 wickets for 24 runs.

No Room For Sloppy Fielding

Fielding will play a vital role in this Twenty20 series. Zimbabwe dropped catches and fielded badly, which cost them the game. South Africa and Australia are the better fielding teams in the competition. Catches much be taken.

Bowling Already Proving Critical

Scoring a huge total is important but bowlers have to do the job and contain the batsmen by not allowing them to get too aggressive and score too many runs. Heavy hitting will be the order of the day. Many batsmen will be going for the gigantic shots and the more bowlers can do to contain the heavy hitting, the better for that team.

Windies Players Must Prepare for Hard Work

Proper strategies and intelligent cricket will be the order in which most teams will be approaching their game. It is hoped that the coach’s plan will be implemented. West Indies players must use their knowledge to know what has to be done at the different stages of the game.

Huge Totals are Expected

Team Australia has three hard hitting batsmen who are accustomed to Twenty20 cricket. Competiting teams must be aware of the unquestionable abilities of Shane Watson, David Warner and Mike Hussey. Cameron White and George Bailey, along with wicket keeper/batsman Matthew Wade, give the Aussies a great opportunity to get off the series with a flier. The team with the greater batting depth should be able to cope with many of the challenges to be faced.
