Shred your documents for free

Brooklyn Sen. Roxanne J. Persaud said on Monday that she will hold next week a shredding event at her 21st Senatorial District Office in Canarsie, Brooklyn for members of the community to “safely recycle their unwanted confidential documents, free of charge.”

The Guyanese-born Persaud said the event — which will held in partnership with Councilmember Alan Maisel, Assemblymember Nick Perry and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) — takes place on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, at the District Office, 1222 East, 96th St., Brooklyn, NY 11236.

Persaud said the Department of Environmental Protection, the New York Police Department Community Affairs and the Department of Sanitation will be on site “sharing important resources and information with attendees.”
