Jamaica: The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) said on Wednesday that the island continues to experience significant tourism growth. The JTB said Jamaica celebrated an overall market growth of 5.4 percent for the first six months of the year, with stopover tourist arrivals increasing by 5.9 percent and cruise arrivals by 4.8 percent over the same period last year. Thousands protest travel ban verdict

Manhattan: Just hours after the Supreme Court verdict on the Trump Administration travel ban was announced on June 26, New Yorkers responded to an immediate, last minute call to action. On Facebook, activist Linda Sarsour wrote: “BREAKING NEWS. We lost. Reversed and remanded. The Supreme Court just took the side of Trump and his white supremacist administration in the Muslim and refugee ban case. They decided in favor of xenophobia. Another dark stain on our country’s history. Meet me at Foley Square at 6 pm.” Comment
Barbados: While statistics show that Cricket West Indies is growing as a home for professional regional players, the Barbados government wants to link this and other sports as not only an avenue to direct employment, but a boost for tourism. Comment

Antigua hosting romantic giveaway contest for two couples

Antigua: Only couples need apply. The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority recently launched a romantic all-inclusive giveaway competition for couples. To observe the month of June as their obligatory month of romance, the agency is going to award two couplings with a chance for a three-night stay at their Sugar Ridge and South Point hotels, said a spokeswoman.
