The Riverside Church will host its 21st Annual Career Day on Saturday, March 3, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Church, 91 Claremont Avenue (bet. 120th & 122nd St.), Morningside Heights.
The career day will help provide 7th – 12th graders with the essential ingredients for success in the future. The event offers students the opportunity to explore more than 20 different workshops and panel discussions, representing a variety of professional fields, such as: law, education and health services; science, technology and engineering; architecture and design; business, finance and marketing; sports, entertainment and more.
Special guests who will speak and provide encouragement to students at the event include: founder of VIP Smiles, Dr. Catrise Austin; recognized trainer, coach, preacher and creative artist, Rev. Melvin Miller (Fort Washington Church); former director-counsel and president of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund (LDF), Theodore M. Shaw; and producer, performer, educator and civic activist Dr. Glory Van Scott (Dr. Glory Van Scott’s Children’s Theatre).
Additionally, as part of the Career Day College Fair, several colleges and universities will be on-hand, including: Barnard College, Baruch College, Borough of Manhattan, Community College (BMCC), Columbia University, Fairfield University, Fiske University, Howard University, Hunter College, Lincoln University, Medgar Evers College, Monroe College, Morgan State University, New York University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Spellman College, St. John’s University, LIU, Morehouse, Vasser, Vaughn Aeronautics, Wheaton, University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt University.
