Trinidad-born star Nicki Minaj plans to make 2014 another boom year for her career. After ending last year as one of the judges on television’s popular, music reality show “American Idol” the rapper, song-writer and exaggerated dresser has added a number of music projects and a major film deal to make this year a banner year that will introduce her to wide-screen audiences.

For her debut role, 31-year-old Minaj will make her first-ever movie appearance in the film “The Other Woman.” Slated for release on April 25, the film also features actress Cameron Diaz, Taylor Kinney and supermodel Kate Upton.

Reports are that Minaj will play Diaz’s “opinionated, sharp, and brutally honest” legal assistant who is on her third marriage.

Born Onika Maraj, the Trinidad native already wrapped filming the Nick Cassavetes’ comedy, which adds to her film career that last year found her behind the scenes in the animated comedy “Ice Age: Continental Drift.”

In that feature Minaj provided the voice of Steffie the mammoth.

In addition to making film debut film, the four-time Grammy nominee will also release her collaboration with Lil Wayne next month with the album release of “Young Money: Rise of Empire.”

She is currently working on her third studio album. “I’m definitely working,” Minaj reportedly said. “I’m very excited at what I’ve been coming up with.”
