West Indies batting legend Brian Lara has urged the current crop of West Indies batsmen to keep raising the bar if they want to be among the top batsmen in international cricket.

He said the West Indies which will start a three-match Test series against England on Aug. 17, must find a way to transfer the talent at youth level to senior level.

Lara, one of the world’s greatest batsmen noted that everybody has talent and the West Indies youngsters have the most talent in the world.

He made the call during the opening at the Mr. Lara’s 400* Pop-up Lounge and Memorabilia Museum in St. Clair, Port of Spain next to the Queen’s Park Oval last week.

The former West Indies captain said when a batsman performs early in their career the opposition will find a way to work out a plan to get you.

Lara cited many examples where players come out in the early part of their Test career, perform very well and all of a sudden just fall by the wayside.

“Everyone around the world has talent. Who has that mental fortitude to go out there and keep performing day in day out to raise the bar all the time will succeed,” he added.
