Jamaican women are CWI Twenty20 champiions

Jamaica women beat arch-rivals Barbados to be crowned champions in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Twenty20 Blaze tournament in Kingston, Jamaica recently.

Bowler Karla Cohen lifted Jamaica to an exciting four-wicket victory in the final over to help dismiss Barbados for 104 — four short of their 108 target.

With the score on 103 for eight, Cohen got the prize wicket of Captain Chakera Harewood, who scored a quick 15 runs from nine balls.

One run later, Alisha Scantlebury was run out by Chinelle Henry, as jubilant home supporters began celebrating victory.

Defending champions Trinidad and Tobago had to settle for third place after defeating Windward Islands to end on nine points.

The women will now turn their attention to the Super50 Cup which bowled off last week.
