The Brooklyn Transition Lions Club brought the best out of some patrons on Saturday when they were asked to strut their stuff before an appreciative audience at the club’s inaugural Easter Fashion Show Luncheon extravaganza at St. Gabriel’s Golden Hall on Hawthorne Street in Brooklyn.

The club also honored four community figures at the event: Guyanese natives Leslie Brooks, also known as DJ Leslie; Sharon Anne Trotman; Patrick Verwayne; and Caribbean Life’s senior reporter Nelson A. King, a native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Emceed by Guyanese Gracelyn Forde, the models, all “loving moms” who love to sing, received rave reviews, impressing the large audience with their evening wear. All models, except Vincentian Desma Dofflyn King, were Guyanese natives.

Tammy Morgan, a teacher and a “vibrant mom” wore a BCBG Leopard dress. Hazel Erskine, a member of the New Life Center of Truth Church in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, wore a three-piece yellow Sunday dress, with matching shoes and hat. Erskine also wore a matching cocktail suit, with complementary hat.

Jeannette Grant, who also represented New Life Center of Truth Church, wore an authentic Nigerian two-piece outfit, highlighted by cobalt blue earing and necklaces, with yellow sandals.

King wore a custom-made outfit, designed by Guyanese CeCe Wear. The registered nurse was resplendent in the beautiful gold, Aplicard dress, with a knee-length overcoat and matching jewelry.

“It was fabulous,” said patron Shaundell Agrippa, a Guyanese native, who trekked from Springfield Gardens, Queens. “I enjoyed it.

“It was nice,” added the director of Nicky’s Little Sprouts D.C., Inc. Day Care Center. “It was a refreshing atmosphere to see them [models] on the Cat Walk, and celebrating Easter, too.”

The event drew representatives from several area Lions clubs, including: Brooklyn Midwood, Brooklyn Farragut, Winthrop Lions, Brooklyn Clinton Hill, Brooklyn Vanderveer, Brooklyn Crown Heights and Brooklyn Outreach.
