West Indies selectors have recalled hard-hitting opener Chris Gayle and fellow Jamaican Marlon Samuels for the five One-Day Internationals (ODIs) match tour of England next month.

But, both Darren Bravo and his bother Dwayne Bravo along with Sunil Narine have declined the offer to join the 15-member squad.

Gayle, 37, has not played an ODI in about two and a half years and Samuel has been kept out because of the West Indies’ controversial eligibility rule, which requires players to make themselves available for the domestic format in which they prefer to play internationally.

However, Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced last month a “temporary player amnesty” paving the way for the return of several of the region’s previously marginalized stars.

The selectors said that both Gayle and Samuels will be a boost to the young side.

Gayle has last featured in ODIs during the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Samuels has not played ODIs since the Pakistan series last October but he has scored over 5,000 runs and l0 centuries.

Seasoned fast bowler Jerome Taylor has also recalled to the squad for the first time in a year.

Bravo (Darren) who was left out of West Indies cricket over the past nine months because of an offensive tweet to CWU President Dave Cameron has indicated that he is unavailable for the tour, while his brother Dwayne and Narine said they would not be available until next year.
