WEST INDIES NEEDS A BALANCED TEST SQUAD

With Roston Chase coming into action for the West Indies and Jermaine Blackwood trying to adopt the correct technique for a middle order batsman, it is evident that the West Indies should have a stable batting. Brathwaite should be in all the formats of the game. Test cricket must be key for him and not only Twenty20 and West Indies selectors must not see Brathwaite only as a Twenty20 player.

Kraigg Brathwaite should not be bowling in Test cricket. The specialist bowlers chosen must carry the responsibilities of bowling out the opposition and another specialist spinner is needed to support Chase. It is disapointing that Devendra Bishoo failed to capitalize on another opportunity. Bowling is key in winning Test matches and the bowlers selected must be used according to the state of the game. The short comings of batsmen must be identified and steps taken to improve their performance. Head coach for the West Indies Phil Simmons has some major work to do with pacer Shannon Gabriel.
