It was the first Quarter Final Ladies Volleyball ever at Brooklyn College. And the fifth seeded Brooklyn College Bulldogs defeated CCNY in four sets, winning three sets to one.

CCNY won the opening set, then Brooklyn won 3 straight, by scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-2. Stellar play by Jillian Escobar and Maritza Morency helped lead Brooklyn. Zuleyka Polanco, Dalliana Toussaint and Antoinette Steele were standouts for CCNY.

Brooklyn’s next game, will be against the top seeded Hunter College in the second game of two consecutive semifinals, held on the same day. The first semifinal, will have # 2 seeded Baruch playing #3 Lehman. The championship game will directly follow the semi finals, as the evening game.

In the eight-team CUNY league, Brooklyn finished the regular season seeded fifth with a 5 and 3 record.

Hunter was the top team in the league with a perfect 8-0 CUNY conference record and 20-10 overall, which includes out of conference games.

Of the seven weekly players of the week, the top seeded Hunter had five players of the week. Christina Pierre won four times and Mallory Grubler won once, both from Hunter. The winner of the CUNY tournament goes on to the NCAA Tournament.
