Bronx volunteers beautify mall

Friends of The Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Malls held its annual spring event of planting flowers to restore and beautify the malls and encourage youth to participate and invest in their community on Saturday, May 19.

The event, conducted in the Spring and Fall of each year since 1997, was especially significant as the planting was done on Malcolm X’s birthday.

The planting was conducted with the help of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Inc New York Alumnae Chapter, Community Board 10, Church of Scientology Harlem, 32nd Pct Explorers Club and community residents.

Malcolm X said “The future belongs to those who prepare for it.” The care and planting out flowers on the Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Malls since 1997 helps to ensure a green and healthy future for our community.
