Brendon Rodney motivates Brooklyn Community Services Youths

Brendon Rodney, who won a bronze medal for Canada running track in Rio, brought his Olympic medal to visits with youths at Brooklyn Community Services’ East New York Family Academy and GKCC afterschool programs. The youths were thrilled to get the Olympiad experience by wearing the prized medal and learning champion techniques in running relays. “Whatever you want to accomplish, you can,” he told them.

Rodney grew up in rapper Drake’s hometown of Toronto and his escape from getting into trouble was sports. Today, he’s a Brooklyn resident, who holds a master’s degree in exercise science and nutrition from LIU and is currently balancing his professional track career with working on staff with LIU athletics. His father is from Jamaica.
