Roston Chase wins four cricket awards

Rising West Indies middle-order batsman Roston Chase copped four awards,including the prestigious Men’s Cricketer of the Year award at the 2016 / 2017 Cricket West Indies / West Indies Players Association award ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus recently.

Barbadian Chase was also named Test Cricketer of the Year, First Class Cricketer of the Year and Emerging Player of the Year. Chase has played 10 Test matches for West Indies and has an impressive record, having scored 728 runs at an average 48,53.

West Indies captain Jamaican Stafanie Taylor took the Women’s Cricketer of the Year award for the ninth consecutive year along with two other awards of the night.

She was also named West Indies One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 Cricketer of the Year.

Another Jamaican, Andre Russell, who is currently on suspension, was named West Indies Twenty20 Player of the Year, while West Indies captain Jason Holder was named the One Day International Player of the Year and Trinidadian Dwayne Bravo copped the Regional Twenty20 Cricketer of the Year award.

Included among his runs are three centuries and three half centuries and his best was 137 not out, added to this he has taken 17 wickets.

Barbadian Joshua Bishop won the Under-19 Cricketer of the Year award.

The annual event is organized by West Indies Players Association — the fifth one jointly between the two cricket bodies.
