The Jamaica Tallawahs secured their second Caribbean Premier League (CPL) title when they defeated the Guyana Amazon Warriors at the Warner Park, St. Kitts on Sunday night.

Tallawahs captain Chris Gayle sent the “Warriors” in to batnd it was a disastrous start as wickets start to fall regularly and they ended up at 93 all out.

The Tallawahs had finished behind Guyana Amazon Warriors in the group stage and lost to them in the first play-off game, but in the final the Tallawahs did not give them a breath in a fine all-round performance that saw them win by nine wickets with 43 balls to spare.

Hard-hitting batsman Chris Gayle scored a half century — his 78th score of 50s or more in Twenty20 cricket. All the “Warriors” bowlers felt the power of his bat. He smashed his half century just off 22 balls.

Gayle started off slowly but after the second over, he entertained the crowd with some massive hits — scoring six sixes and three fours on his way to 54 off 27 balls.

He got an award for hitting the most number of sixes in the season.

During the sixth over, Gayle became the fourth batsman to pass 400 runs in this edition of the CPL.

All-rounder Andre Russell who scored his fastest maiden century in the second play-offs against Trinbago Knight Riders to reach the finals was voted Man-of-the-Series.

Best catch of the season went to bowler Kesrick Williams.
