The Caribbean American Fashion Exchange (CAFÉ), a marketing initiative of JLC Productions, invites all to celebrate Caribbean fashion and culture at the Third Tuesday CAFE Fashion & Culture Salon, beginning at 7:30 pm next Tuesday, June 21, at the fresh new workspace, Brooklyn Commons, 495 Flatbush Ave., Brooklyn, between Empire Boulevard and Lefferts Avenue.

The debut event is sponsored by the Trini Breakfast Shed, Brooklyn Commons and Alizé la Vie magazine, with the call to enjoy Summer 2016,” according to organizer, Trinidadian Janaice Lawrence-Clarke, creative director of JLC Productions and founder of CAFE™.

Lawrence-Clarke invites patrons to “sip, chat, shop and be entertained” every third Tuesday, from June 21, the first day of summer, through Oct.18, 2016.” Tickets may be purchased at www.eventbrite.com, search Third Tuesday CAFE.

Opening the series of Third Tuesday events next week are the one-of-a-kind leather accessories — belts, bags, cuffs — of KEYIKO Afrikan Arts by Omidiran Ogunlade of Trinidad and Tobago.

Lawrence-Clarke said there will also be “unique aromatic blends” of Bigo Creations’ candles and soaps from Angela de Freitas of Barbados, and the “unique collection of women’s apparel and accessories” to be found at Muffets Closet, the boutique owned by Jamaica’s Sophia Phillips.

Rounding out the evening will be an appearance by emerging artist Mr. Lee G, who has been wowing audiences with his special mix of “R&B Reggae, and is now beginning to ride the charts with his latest release, Healing Time,” Lawrence-Clarke said.

“This is a PoP- Up shop of Caribbean designers and business owners that opens the door for us to support our own creativity and culture,” Lawrence-Clarke said.

She said the Caribbean American Fashion Exchange is an economic development program designed to position Caribbean heritage brands before sales opportunities in the U.S. market.

“The Third Tuesday CAFE™ – Fashion & Culture Salon is a series of events within the CAFE™ initiative that supports awareness of the niche of Caribbean fashion and culture,” Lawrence-Clarke said.
