India has the cricketers to participate meaningfully and gain success internationally but the selectors have to first select the best team for each respective format.

Opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan has been failing for much too long and he has caused havoc for his team. He scored a century and a half century in the fourth and fifth One-Day International, but that was when India had already lost the series. This should be India’s One-Day squad with batting order.

ODI TEAM

1. Ajinkkya Rahane

2. Rohit Sharma

3. Chetesh Pujara

4. Virat Kohli

5. Mahendra Singh Dhoni (CAPT)

6. Manish Pandey

7. Ravindra Jadega

8. Axar Patel

9. Jasprit Bumrah

10. Umesh Yadav

11. Inshant Sharma

The above squad comprises players who are very strong in batting and bowling. At the top of the order, the openers should be Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma. Rahane creates stability and support for the team at the top of the order and he is ably supported by Pujara, Kohli, Dhoni and the sensational Pandey who just scored a century and won the MVP in the last ODI despite Australia winning 4 – 1.

INDIA BOWLING

Spinners Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadega along with the fast bowlers Umesh Yadav, Inshant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah, this squad should be excellent.

TEST SQUAD

1. Murali Vijay

2. Cheteshwar Pujara

3. Virat Kohli

4. Ajinkyar Rahane

5. Manish Pandey

6. Wriddhiman Saha

7. Ravichandran Ashwin

8. Varun Aaron

9. Amit Mishra

10. Inshant Sharma

11. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Note:

With two experienced spinners in Ashwin and Mishra and three fast bowlers in the squad, India should be able to win test matches.

INDIA’S BOWLING MUST BE STRENGTHENED

In order for Team India to progress successfully, some changes must be made to their bowling effort. Their spinners are much more effective in Test and ODI’s. They must go with their strength.
