Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams, along with New York Council Member Dr. Mathieu Eugene, will welcome the Guyanese community to the renowned Brooklyn Borough Hall on Friday, June 26, at 5:30 pm, to celebration Guyana’s 49th Independence Anniversary, and salute the accomplishments, service and philanthropic endeavors of Guyanese in the Diaspora.

The Guyana Tri-State Alliance in collaboration with The Guyana Consulate, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Guyana, and the United Nations, will honor Oswald David, Linda Holder, Verinda Jagan, Esq. Romanee Kalicharan; Rosalind McLymont; Lorna Welshman-Neblett; Sonia Noel; Pandit Seeratan; Angaad Sooknandan; Nalini Tiwari; Dolly Small; Mohan Singh; Tony Singh and Verna Walcott-White.

The Youth Award will be presented to Blossom Parris, while Shirley Holder, founding member of the Alliance For Change (AFC) political party will be honored posthumously.

The alliance, the missions, and the consulate will present the Golden Arrowhead Award of Achievement and Distinction. The City Council of the City of New York will in turn present to the notable honorees with citations.

Being observed under the Guyana Tri-State Alliance’s theme: Our Unsung Heroes — all things Guyanese will be celebrated in the municipal building, highlighting national unity, solidarity and the restoration of the beautiful country of Guyana, according to Patricia Jordan- Langford, president of the organization.

A multi-cultural presentation, music, and a “Taste of Guyana” reception will follow in the rotunda.
