new year: In collaboration with the Junior League of Pelham, Chinese New Year returns to Pelham Art Center with family-friendly activities commemorating the beginning of the Year of the Horse! From 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., paper-craft workshops will be held in which participants can create a Chinese lantern or a traditional banner decorated with calligraphy. At 11:15 a.m., members of Kwan’s Kung Fu from Peekskill, NY, will perform a traditional Lion Dance, believed in Chinese culture to scare away evil spirits and to bring good luck. migration narratives: Pelham Art Center is pleased to announce a group exhibition of kinetic sculpture, installation, drawing, painting, and video narratives by seven contemporary artists. There will be an opening reception and all age hands-on workshop from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Admission is free. This multi-media exhibition relates stories of individual transitions from one state of being to another. Independent Curator, Lisa A. passport application center: Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) launched a second Passport Application Center at the Kings Highway Library providing a convenient facility for Brooklyn residents and new immigrants to apply for passports.
