The Friday, July 19 affair will take place at Occasions Banquet Hall, located at 127-08 Merrick Blvd., Springfield Gardens, from 9:00 p.m., will also honor the outstanding contributions of Ms. Nickeitta Leung, an Ally of Public Allies New York, Mr. Reginald Daniels, founder and President of Daniels Financial Services, Dr. Walter Kyte, retired NYC School Superintendent and Education Consultant, and Veronica Ralph-Munro, retired NYC Educator and community activist.

Popular DJ Perry will provide music and a donation of $100.00 will be accepted.

Board Chairman/President Mr. Errol Lewis, remarked that in order to succeed, one’s desire for success should be greater than one’s fear of failure, and said the generosity of the community will assure the success of GAC.

To this end, the three-year old non-profit, has received the support it seeks in its vigilance to educate Guyanese through its stellar programs, such as computer literacy training for students of the Berbice High School that was represented by Board Secretary D. Sandra Taylor Hart, Board Member/Director of Operations Bonita Montague, and Board Member/Director of Communications Dr. Terrence Simon.

Part of the $5000 plus funds raised at the organization’s first telethon went to the purchase of textbooks and after-school tutoring to students in Guyana, in preparation to complete the recent concluded Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) examination.

The group expressed its gratitude to patrons who donated to the literacy program, with a special thanks to Beryl James of Catherine McAuley High School where the telethon was held in February of this year.
