Windwards win Regional Super 50 Tournament

The Windward Islands won the Regional Super 50 Tournament by defeating Combined Campuses and Colleges by 5 wickets. In a rain affected match schedule for day/night at Kensington Oval, Barbados, Windward Islands won the toss and sent CCC to bat first. The CCC team found themselves in trouble early at 31 for 4 in the eleventh over during a rainy overcast condition. The team was bowled out for 174 runs in 49. 2 overs. Kenroy Peters 4 for 32 and Shane Shillingford 3 for 29 were the wicket takers for the Windward Islands.

Duckworth Lewis Method

With the overs reduced, the Windward Islands team had a revised total to reach. Openers Devon Smith and Johnson Charles blasted 100 in 98 balls before Charles fell for 46. Smith scored 67 not out as the Windward Islands closed at 134 for one from 29 overs.

Note: Devon Smith and Kenroy Peters were both named Man of the Match.

First Semi-Final CCC Defeats T&T By 140 Runs

Combined Campuses and Colleges defeated Trinidad and Tobago by 140 runs in the first semi-finals of the Regional Super 50 Tournament. CCC batted first and scored 232 for 7 in a day/night affair with opening batsman Anthony Alleyne scoring 99. For Trinidad and Tobago, Rayad Emrit 23 and Jason Mohammed 14 were the main contributors as their team was dismissed for 92 off 31.2 overs.

St. Vincent Fast Bowler got Early Wickets

St. Vincent fast bowler Keswick Williams bowled with speed and accuracy on the Kensington Oval field. Lendl Simmons, Adrian Barath and captain Denesh Ramdin all fell cheaply. Williams picked up 3 for 16 from 7 hostile overs, spinner Akeem Dewar 2 for 14 and Raymon Reifer 2 for 11 were the main contributing bowlers.

Second Semi-Final Windwards Defeats Jamaica by 5 Wickets

Some spectacular performances from three Windward Islands batsmen led their team to victory. Earlier on, Jamaica won the toss and decided to bat in the Kensington Oval. Some fine batting from Brenton Parchment 82, Nkrumah Bonner 74 and Dave Bernard 32 boosted Jamaica to 242 for 8 from their 50 overs. Windward Islands captain Liam Sebastian picked up 2 wickets for 43 runs from 10 overs and Kenroy Peters 3 wickets for 60 runs from 9 overs.

Devon Smith 59, Keddy LesPoris 61 and Andre Fletcher 68 Guided Windwards to Victory

A splendid partnership of 78 find from 68 balls between Devon Smith and Tyrone Theophile for the second wicket, a fourth wicket partnership of 91 runs between Andre Fletcher and Keddy LesPoris, all contributed significantly for Windwards Islands’ success. All-rounder Dalton Polius slammed 2 boundaries from 3 balls to seal the victory for the Windward Islands. Smith, the batsman with the most runs in both the super 50 and the four-day competition scored 59 runs with 10 boundaries off 44 balls.

Note: Andre Fletcher was named Man of the Match.
