COJO launches Child Month appeal

New York based Jamaica charity Children of Jamaica Outreach (COJO) Inc., recently launched its annual Child Month initiative to raise funds to benefit less fortunate children in Jamaica. From now until May, tri-state residents can assist in providing scholarships to needy youths. This year’s aim is to maximize support for the cause and also give back to the US-based community which throughout the years has aided in bolstering funds to the underserved population.

Reportedly, JetBlue Airways has already donated travel certificates to aid the scholarship fundraising initiative. Since inception in 1994, COJO has dedicated its resources — human and financial — to help make a difference in the lives of underserved children in Jamaica as well as the United States of America.

Allegedly, these funds will help children on the island to pursue their academic goals.

COJO Founder and Chairman Gary M. Williams welcomed support from the airline saying their contribution is integral to the organization’s scholarship fundraising efforts.

“I am forever indebted to JetBlue and our many hotel partners for making an investment in our children who are the future. We encourage everyone to support this worthwhile cause and help us achieve our goal,” Williams said. The raffle will culminate during the week of May 18.

In addition to the plane tickets, numerous hotels on the north coast have also donated complimentary vacation packages which will be raffled for proceeds.

COJO’s mission is to “help improve the health, education and general well being of less fortunate children.”
