Today’s news:

West Indies batsmen to the challenge

Batsmen Ramneresh Sarwan, Darren Bravo, Kieron Powell and Johnson Charles, as well as wicket-keeper /batsman Devon Thomas would have to show their batting power when the West Indies faces up to Australia on Feb. 1. West Indies batting seems fairly good on paper, but all they would have to do well in order for the team to excel. Wicket-keeper/batsman Devon Thomas and Darren Bravo will be closely monitored regarding their approach towards the Australians. Batting performance will play a pivotal role if the West Indies is to win the one-day series. Kieron Powell, so far, has shown good intentions by keeping his position with Chris Gayle.

Pacers Jason Holder, Tino Best and Kemar Roach, and spinners Samuel Badree and Sunil Narine will be leading the bowling efforts for the West Indies in tje series “down under”. Holder and Best would have to measure up to some classy Australian batting of the top order. West Indies’ bowlers would have to be at its best. Narine and Badree would be top contenders competing in Australia.

West Indies has a good opportunity to defeat Australia, because of their experienced players such as Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Ramneresh Sarwan and Kemar Roach. The younger players, having been exposed internationally, should use that experience to enhance their game.

Johnson Charles, the aggressive frontline Windward Island batsman, has been given another opportunity to lift his game for the West Indies. He did not travel to Bangladesh when the West Indies lost the One Day Internaytipmnals 3-2 and won both the Tests and Twenty/20 games.

Charles is an aggressive batsman, known to put on key partnerships with his team players, and he runs fairly well between the wickets. He is a brilliant out-fielder with very safe hands.

Ramneresh Sarwan will be the player to look at because of his form. It is hoped that Sarwan gets into his batting form. West Indies should defeat the Australians in both series.
